Abstract

  • The Gender Inequality Index (GII) in 2023 was 0.490, a decrease of 0.007 points compared to 0.497 in 2022.
  • This improvement is influenced by equal achievements in all dimensions that make up the Gender Inequality Index (GII).
  • The improvement in the reproductive health dimension is influenced by the improvement in the indicator of women 15-49 years old who gave birth to their first live-born child less than 20 years old, down from 32.6 percent in 2022 to 32.0 percent in 2023.
  • The improvement in the empowerment dimension is influenced by the improvement in the indicator of the percentage of female legislative members increasing higher than men and the indicator of the percentage of women 25 years and over who have a high school education and above increasing higher than men. The percentage of female legislative members increased from 8.89 percent in 2022 to 9.52 percent in 2023. Meanwhile, the percentage of women with at least a high school education increased from 36.08 percent in 2022 to 37.18 percent in 2023.
  • The improvement in the labor market dimension is influenced by the improvement in the indicator of the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) of women increasing higher than that of men. The percentage of female Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) increased from 47.55 percent in 2022 to 50.31 percent in 2023.
