Abstract

In August 2021, Tanjungpandan City experienced inflation of 0.28 percent with a CPI of 109.32. Of the 90 CPI cities, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kendari at 0.62 percent with a CPI of 108.48 and the lowest occurred in Tanjung at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 108.17. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Sorong at 1.04 percent with a CPI of 107.20 and the lowest occurred in Meulaboh, Sukabumi, and Timika at 0.03 percent.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in some indexes of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages, and tobacco by 0.26 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.32 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.08 percent; health group by 0.37 percent; transportation group by 0.56 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.23 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.03 percent; education group by 0.64 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.44 percent. The food and beverage/restaurant supply group as well as the clothing and footwear group did not change.
The inflation rate for the calendar year is 2.51 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2021 against August 2020) is 4.69 percent.
The energy group in August 2021 experienced inflation of 0.31 percent with a CPI of 100.90. Meanwhile, the food ingredients component in August 2021 experienced inflation of 0.34 percent with a CPI of 114.77.
